SEASIDE HEIGHTS - Though there’s still work left to do, an elementary school nearly destroyed by Sandy is ready to reopen this week.

The Hugh Boyd School in Seaside Heights will reopen Thursday after suffering extensive flooding during Sandy.

“It’s the one positive thing we can take out of this storm is the school has been rebuilt,” says principal Chris Raichle. “We have a brand new school.”

New Jersey’s Queen Latifah helped donate a new playground area to the school.
