UNION BEACH - Finalists of the HUD-sponsored Rebuild by Design contest toured the Sandy-ravaged Shore today.

Over the next few months, the contestants will begin designing solutions to help the region stand up to future storms. The designs will be given to the federal government to help communities during the rebuilding process.

Thousands applied from all over the world to be part of the contest, but only the best and brightest contestants in their fields were selected.

The finalists are made up of scientists, ecologists, landscape designers and architects.
