TRENTON - An affordable housing advocacy group has released more of the state's internal documents that show how the Sandy grant programs operate.

The group Fair Share Housing Center says that based on the documents it has reviewed, the state did not have established guidelines in place for the Reconstruction, Rehabilitation, Elevation and Mitigation program until October 2013 after some applicants were already wait-listed or rejected.

Fair Share Housing also found the state website does not give applicants information on how to appeal specific decisions, like how to appeal the amount awarded or which contractors to use.

The state's website only provides information on how to appeal ineligibility and rejected applicants are told by mail that they will be notified of the reason why they were rejected.

Fair Share says it knows of no applicants for the RREM or Resettlement grants who have been told the reason they were ineligible.

At his last news conference, Gov. Chris Christie dismissed complaints made by FSHC. "If I let them sit in my office and review every piece of paper that came across my desk, they would still claim we were not being transparent enough," he says.

Documents about the Sandy grant process were obtained by Fair Share Housing in a lawsuit against the state.
