BRICK TOWNSHIP - Demolition has been underway at Camp Osborn in Brick Township for the last month and a half.

The three-acre community is still fenced off, but most of the homes have been knocked down in an effort to create a clean slate on the property.

Debris is now being sifted from the dirt and sand that remains to eventually make way for new construction.

People who live near the property say that some of the sand with debris still mixed in was initially put on the beach, and it needed to be removed.

Peter Kupper, of Brick, says residents have requested that the beach be tested for safety.

All of the homes in Camp Osborn were flooded during Sandy, and many of them were burned in a natural gas fire sparked by the superstorm.
