WALDWICK - Muck and debris in White's Pond in Waldwick are prompting homeowners to take action.

Residents say fishing and boating are difficult because silt has accumulated on the bottom, making it too shallow. They say tree limbs are clogging the dam at one end.

Homeowners want the pond dredged and restored to its original beauty.

"You may just see the surface of the water," says Andrea Mistretta. "But just inches below is the muck. And that muck holds branches and those branches hold back even more branches and debris. And it will continue until it turns into a swamp."

The Waldwick Borough Council will discuss the issue at its meeting on Oct. 1.
