SEA GIRT - (AP) -- New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie was in Sea Girt today, touring boardwalk and sand dune rebuilding efforts in the wake of Superstorm Sandy.

The upscale Monmouth County community lost its ¾ mile boardwalk in the storm and has spent $2.5 million on cleanup and rebuilding costs throughout the town.

Officials hope to have the project finished by June 23.

Christie also held a recovery and rebuilding news conference at the National Guard Training Center in Sea Girt.
