BRICK TOWNSHIP - Nearly eight months after Sandy, residents who once lived on Jeanette Drive are devastated by the lack of progress in their Deauville Beach neighborhood.

Homes that came off their foundations and crashed into each other are still piled up on properties and streets.

"I think it's absolutely ridiculous that someone hasn't removed it so all those other people could start rebuilding their own houses," says Vita DeGennaro.

The few homeowners that have been able to move back just got electricity a few weeks ago. Residents continue to pay taxes on unlivable homes and don't have access to the beach, which is closed due to hazardous conditions.

The township says the area is not forgotten and that it has just awarded the demolition contract for debris removal on the barrier island, and work should start soon.
