JERSEY SHORE - News 12 reporter Tony Caputo recently took an aerial tour of the Jersey Shore on the Horizon Blimp, to get a glimpse of how the recovery effort is progressing after Superstorm Sandy.

The tour, provided by Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, focused on the coastal communities of Belmar, Spring Lake and Mantoloking.

The National Hurricane Center says that Sandy was the deadliest hurricane to hit the northeastern U.S. in 40 years and the second-costliest in the nation's history.

As of July 29, the total federal assistance to New Jersey has totaled $5.4 billion, according to FEMA.
