POINT PLEASANT - Memorial Day weekend has arrived and crowds of people are already returning to Jenkinson's Boardwalk in Point Pleasant Beach.

Toby Wolf, Jenkinson's Marketing Director, says the weekend is always big, but this year is especially important because beachgoers get to see all the hard work put into rebuilding over the winter. Despite the rainy weather, Wolf says it won't be an issue because people want to return to the Shore.

"We're really excited to see everybody come back," said Wolf.

Crowds were out on the boardwalk for a Friday morning concert hosted by radio station WPLJ.

Elsewhere in the state, ribbon cuttings were held today to open more beaches for the season. Towns that opened beaches today included Asbury Park, Monmouth Beach, Sea Isle City, Long Branch and Spring Lake.
