TOMS RIVER - A contractor in Ocean County is accused of leaving an elderly Sandy victim high and dry.

The 92-year-old woman says she has been victimized again after her contractor swindled her out of more than $300,000.

Ida Terranova wanted to restore her waterfront home on Green Island in Toms River after it was flooded by Superstorm Sandy.

Police say Joe Reiss with Blue Diamond Construction is charged with theft by deception. The contractor allegedly took money from the great-grandmother but failed to complete the work.

The house has special meaning to Terranova, because she built it with her late husband back in 1972.

"It was our dream to come to the Shore and we had 40 years there," she says.

Terranova just wants to stop renting and live home again. "I'm out of a lot of money," she says. "So what do I do? I don't know."

Longtime neighbors and friends want to see Terranova return.

"She's a great lady and she doesn't have too many years left," says Jeff Coley. "And all she wants to do is get back in her home."

Terranova's family has started an online fundraising campaign to help her rebuild.
