The father of the toddler who was found dead in Jersey City had previously been charged in the death of his son back in 2005.
According to local media in Virginia, Travis Plummer was convicted of misdemeanor child abuse in the death of his 8-month-old son, who was left unattended in a bathtub.
Plummer is now facing charges of "desecrating human remains" after the body of his daughter Te'Myah was found under a bridge near railroad tracks in Jersey City.
Police say she was reported missing a month ago.
Investigators say they believe Te'Myah was not killed in New Jersey, but they are still trying to determine how she died.
Plummer was arrested last week in Puerto Rico and awaits extradition from there.
