Family says goodbye to man killed in Amtrak derailment
Family and friends of one of the victims killed in last week's Amtrak train derailment in Philadelphia are saying their goodbyes in Red Bank today.
Robert Gildersleeve was the eighth and final victim found after the deadly crash. He was found in the first car of the train.
The 45-year-old Middletown South High School graduate and former Holmdel resident spent many years as the vice president of a technologies company based out of Minnesota.
Gildersleeve lived in Maryland and leaves behind a wife, two children, his parents, siblings, and many nieces and nephews.
Amtrak officials say they are making changes to the rail system near the curve where the train derailed.
Crews installed new speed controls on Saturday along the section of track where the train derailed.
A wake for Gildersleeve is being held at the John E. Day Funeral Home on Riverside Avenue from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and then 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
