Police charged an ice cream truck driver with filing a false report Wednesday after the man claimed to have been stabbed by a rival treat vendor.

Nabil Abdallah told police a competitor forced him to stop his ice cream truck, boarded the vehicle and then stuck him with a box cutter. Police say they've determined Abdallah's wounds were self inflicted, however, and call his story rubbish.

Abdallah's alleged attacker, a 48-year-old Newark ice cream truck driver, says the only contact between the two on Wednesday was an exchange of finger gestures.

According to Abdallah, the two drivers had struck a gentleman's agreement to split the neighborhood business. The pair's children clientele say they can't believe a turf war has erupted between the ice cream jockeys.

"That's insane," says 12-year-old Matthew Owitz. "You don't fight over something that stupid."
