A story about a possible abduction attempt in Edison Thursday turned out to be a hoax Friday.

Police confirmed that four kids made up a story that a man approached them near Partch and Barlow roads, which is just one block from two schools and a community center. Residents say they are relieved the story is not true. Some parents said talk of the incident has made them more cautious and more aware of where their children are.

Due to the ages of the children, there is no word on whether they face any punishment.
