Eastside High School Principal of Operations Zatiti Moody placed on administrative leave over Fetty Wap video
The principal of operations at a Paterson high school has been placed on administrative leave for apparently allowing rapper Fetty Wap to film a music video inside the school.
Zatiti Moody was placed on administrative leave with pay Wednesday evening while school officials investigate how a music video featuring drug references and a pole dancer was allowed to be filmed at Eastside High School.
Fetty Wap, a Paterson native, attended the high school for a time. He released the video for "Wake Up" last week.
Paterson school district spokeswoman Terry Corallo says that the district doesn't endorse the content of the video. She says it was shot during non-instructional hours and didn't include students.
Many parents questioned the decision to allow the rapper to shoot the video in the school, but many of the students say that they don't see it as a big deal.
"That's just the generation as of now. I guess parents will just have to give it up," says senior Jordin Arvelo.
Many consider the rapper to be an inspirational "rags-to-riches" story. He held a free concert last year for students and was getting a key to the city from the mayor.
"I honestly think it inspired us as students to keep going forward. Even though he's a dropout, it still inspires us to be who we actually want to become," says senior Steven Grimaldos.
Representatives for Fetty Wap have not commented on the situation.
The Associated Press wire services contributed to this report.
