Leaders in one north Jersey town want to install red light cameras at their five busiest intersections.
Dumont officials say the cameras will help improve safety. Their request comes after dozens of cameras around the state had to be re-certified because of signal timing issues.
Those critical of the traffic cameras say they do not increase safe driving practices and operate only to generate money.
Dumont hopes to have them installed by the end of the year.
