Driver turns around, chases down vehicle after object strikes windshield
Police in Plumsted Township say more than 25 windshields were cracked over the last few weeks following multiple reports of windows targeted, but recently, one driver fought back.
Late last week, there was another round of cracked windshields along Route 539.
Witnesses all report similar facts: as they are driving, they pass a dark-colored Nissan with all the windows open. Suddenly, they hear a loud bang, sometimes two, and their windshields shatter.
Carey Cable shows where the object struck his windshield on his newly replaced one.
“The mark was here, it was this big; spider webs out and it was indented,” says Carey Cable. “There was a small mark about that big right there.”
On Thursday, Cable took pictures of the damage, which look almost identical to the other victims' windshields targeted back in February. But when his window was hit as he was heading south to Atlantic City, he turned around and gave chase.

“I turned around right away and raced after the guy, saw him driving with his windows open, got up to him, called police, got his plate and he tried to evade me,” says Cable. “Police instructed me to pull over and they caught up to him here in Plumsted and I heard he was arrested.”

Cable says the man was driving a dark-colored Nissan with a Pennsylvania rear license plate, which matches the descriptions other victims gave about the car.
According to police, the incidents were intentional.
Court records say a man was pulled over for criminal mischief and then arrested for an outstanding warrant, but so far police have not charged anyone with the crimes.
Cable says he's sure they got their suspect, and glad he could help.

“I feel great about it I'm actually, kind of glad it happened to me,” says Cable. “After everything I was saying on Thursday, I said if he tried to do this to me, I would turn around and get them and I did so I'm just glad I could help everybody else. I'm not so much mad at happened to me I'm glad everybody's okay and I'm glad it could be stopped before somebody gets hurt.
Police have not confirmed this is the suspect.
