Dozens of animals were rescued Saturday afternoon from a single-family home on Boston Avenue in Union County.
Police and the Humane Society were tipped off about the situation after a contractor working next door reported seeing 10 puppies living in a car outside the home.
The Humane Society says that neighbors told them they have been complaining about the house for three years, but this is the first time they had ever visited this house.
At least 13 dogs, 19 birds, four roosters, and one cat were rescued from the house and its backyard.
Charges against the woman who was hoarding the animals could be filed as early as Sunday.
