A new exhibit at the Yogi Berra Museum is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Negro League baseball program.
The exhibit is called “Discover Greatness” and features baseball’s African American players. It documents the history before the Negro Leagues leading up to the historic moment Jackie Robinson became the first black man to play in Major League Baseball when he joined the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947.
"One of the reasons why we wanted this exhibit in the house was a lot of the folks who come to the museum believe that Jackie Robinson was the first African American baseball player ever. And we really wanted to tell the story about how African Americans played the sport - our national past-time - since the beginning of the game,” says museum executive director Eve Schaenen.
The exhibit will be on display through June.
