Democrats: State can run with or without Christie
Gov. Chris Christie is expected to announce his bid for a presidential run at a news event Tuesday. On Monday, New Jersey's Democrats held their own news conference to say they are prepared to keep the Garden State moving forward with or without the governor.
The governor will hold a special event at his alma mater, Livingston High School, to make a special announcement Tuesday morning. For months, there has been speculation that Gov. Christie will be running for president.
Senate President Steve Sweeney says issues like the pension, transportation and high education will continue to challenge New Jersey.
"If there's people behind that can give answers and make decisions, then we can proceed how we have for the past year," says Sen. Sweeney. "[Gov. Christie] wasn't around a whole lot this year."
The New Jersey Legislature agreed today to Gov. Christie's conditional veto of a tax on millionaires. The move will increase a tax credit for the state's working poor.
News 12 New Jersey will have full coverage of the governor's announcement Tuesday.
