New Jersey Democrats are taking aim at Gov. Chris Christie with a pair of bills stemming from his presidential run, but their efforts look likely to fail.
Democratic senators on Thursday considered two bills.
One requires Christie to resign as governor because he's running for president.
The other prohibits public funding to be used for travel and security for any activity not related to his role as governor when traveling beyond New Jersey.
Democrats themselves say the bills don't stand a chance of becoming law and Christie's office calls them "nonsense."
But Democrats say it's worth having the discussion.
Republicans countered the legislation amounts to a political attack on the governor.
