Death of man found near train tracks is ruled a homicide
The death of a man found near some train tracks in Perth Amboy last week has been ruled a homicide, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
Officials said Monday that an autopsy determined that 18-year-old Jose David Guardado-Leiva suffered sharp-force injuries to the head, neck and torso.
Prosecutors said that Guardado-Leiva’s body was found on Conrail property near William Street by a passerby Friday morning. It's not clear how long the body had been there before it was discovered or if he was attacked at the site.
Authorities declined to provide further details on the death, citing the ongoing investigation.
Anyone who might have any information regarding the investigation is asked to call Detective Dennis Marte at 732-442-4400, or Detective Michael Connelly 732-745-4340.
The Associated Press wire services contributed to this report.
