A string of festivals across New Jersey is giving residents a taste of different cultures without having to go far from home.
In Newark, the Portuguese Festival transformed Ferry Street into Portugal Avenue for 15 blocks, making it one of New Jersey's largest festivals.
People turned out to enjoy a variety of activities including samba music and authentic Portuguese food, giving festival-goers an education on Portuguese life.
Meanwhile, other residents enjoyed a taste of Italy. Elizabeth became the host to the Festa di San Vito where four generations are coming together to teach their native traditions.
