Crews are working to repair a collapsed sewer line in Boonton Township.
The Rockaway Valley Regional Sewerage Authority is working to find out why the line collapsed at the intersection of West Main Street and North Main Street Monday.
Crews dug up the road to find out what happened and how to fix it. Main Street has been closed to Highland Avenue while crews work on the issue.
Boonton Mayor Matthew Di Lauri says that the drinking water in the town has not been affected.
"Our main priority is making sure our residents have good, clean drinking water. On some of the hottest days of the year, that's important," the mayor says.
Mayor Di Lauri says that he hopes that the road closures won't last longer than 24 hours.
The cause of the collapse was not immediately known.
