Court: Philip Seidle was ordered to deal with anger issues
New details emerged Tuesday on the legal battle between former Neptune Township police officer Phillip Seidle and his ex-wife Tami Wilson Seidle before he allegedly shot and killed her last month in Asbury Park.
According to the court documents, Phillip Seidle was suspended from the Neptune Township police force in July 2014. He had to serve a one-week per month suspension without pay for a period of six months.
In the court papers, Seidle writes, "This suspension came as a result of the plaintiff calling the police to involve them in our custody dispute, causing me a tremendous amount of stress. This impacted my job performance and ultimately I was suspended."
Tami Wilson Seidle apparently fought for sole legal and residential custody of the couple's younger children, according to the papers. The Seidles have nine children in all. A judge denied her request.
Phillip Seidle was ordered to pay $5,600 a month in child support and alimony once the divorce was finalized.
The papers also revealed that a judge ordered Phillip Seidle to attend anger management counseling in 2014. The papers did not reveal if he attended any counseling.
On June 16, Phillip Seidle allegedly pursued his ex-wife in a chase that ended in Asbury Park. He is accused of shooting her several times in front of the couple's 7-year-old daughter. He then allegedly held the gun to his own head and got into a 30-minute standoff with responding police officers before being taken into custody.
He was charged with murder and remains at the Monmouth County Jail on $2 million ball.
