Police say a 33-year-old Coram man forcibly raped a 14-year-old girl Wednesday afternoon at an apartment complex.
Authorities responded to apartments on Country Club Drive around noon to a report from the girl that she was sexually assaulted.
After an investigation, police arrested Ricardo Gurdon, 33, who had been staying at the apartment complex with a friend and previously lived with his wife less than a mile away.
Investigators tell News 12 that Gurdon was standing outside with a dog and engaged the victim in conversation. They say he lured her into an apartment where he raped her.
"The girl is from out of town, and she came here a few weeks ago and is staying with a relative.," says Chief Gerard Gigante, of the Suffolk Police Department. "She had seen him on a prior occasion at that apartment standing there, but she has no prior relationship or contact with him."
Gurdon is facing first-degree forcible rape and first-degree criminal sex act charges.
