A change to Starbucks coffee cups is causing quite a stir across the country, and has some people calling for a boycott of the chain.
This year, Starbucks' annual holiday cups are simply red with the company's logo. In years past, the cups have had symbols of Christmas season, such as reindeers, snowflakes and Christmas ornaments. Some say the change is alienating customers in an effort to be politically correct.
New Jersey resident Michelle Simms says she is offended by the cups because "they took the 'Merry Christmas' off the cup."
Former Arizona pastor Joshua Feuerstein posted a video on Facebook urging all Starbucks customers to give their name as "Merry Christmas" when placing the order so employees would write it on the cups.
However, not all New Jersey residents were offended by the change.
"To me, it's a cup of coffee," says loyal Starbucks customer William Dockery. "You put coffee in the cup and drink it."
A spokesperson for Starbucks says the decision was meant to encourage customers to tell their own Christmas stories.
