The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has now confirmed 80 cases of the rare polio-like illness Acute Flaccid Myelitis.
The number is up from the 72 confirmed cases last week.
Two hundred nineteen more cases are under investigation.
AFM affects the spinal cord and could cause paralysis.
Three cases were found in New Jersey.
Almost all cases have been found in children under the age of 18.
The CDC says the agency is working hard to find the cause of the outbreak.
