Health officials in East Camden are working hard to boost the number of vaccines given within the community.
Teams with the Camden County Health Department went door-to-door to find residents who wanted their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine.
Free Uber rides to nearby vaccination sites were also offered.
The work seems to be paying off as Camden has seen a 5% bump in the number of people vaccinated from just a few weeks ago.
A total of 60% of Camden residents 18 and older have received at least one dose of the vaccine
Health officials like Associate Dean of the Rutgers School of Nursing Kevin Emmons are also looking for those eligible for their booster.
“Those are people who are immunocompromised from things like receiving treatments for cancer, who have primary or acquired deficiency, who are on medications that suppress their immune systems, like those with transplants,” Emmons says. “We’re encouraging them to get their third dose today to complete their cycle.”
