Some Broadway singers are lending their voices to help a New Jersey leukemia charity.
Among the singers is Diane Phelan, who enlisted some of her Broadway friends for the event to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of New Jersey.
“We thought this was a great opportunity to use our talents and our gifts that have been sitting idle all this time since Broadway’s closing to do something good to help raise some money,” Phelan says.
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of New Jersey provides money for research and assistance to blood cancer patients. The charity has live-streamed a weekly concert called “Music is in Our Blood” and encourages those watching to donate to the organization.
“We haven’t been able to come together in large groups, which is primarily how we raise our dollars,” says executive director Jana Boyer.
The charity had to find new ways to raise money because of the pandemic. The final “Music is in Our Blood” concert will be streamed on June 24 at 7 p.m. More information can be found on the LLS NJ website
