The community in Bridgeton is set to gather next month to mark the first anniversary of the disappearance of Dulce Maria Alavez.
The event will be held Sept. 13, three days before the anniversary of her disappearance. There will be a vigil and a motivational speaker, as well as snacks, rock painting and flyers.
According to authorities, Dulce went missing from City Park last Sept. 16. while playing with her younger brother.
Authorities say her mother, Noema Alavez Perez, then 19, was sitting in her car with an 8-year-old relative at the time.
State Police issued an Amber Alert a day after she went missing. Authorities have searched for her using dogs, helicopters and boats, to no avail.
