Bridgeport police unveiled an anonymous 'tips-by-mail’ program Friday.
Police say they get between 25 and 30 tips a week on their phone tips line, but a lot of people are still reluctant to make a call because they worry it might be recorded or traced.
They say people have been suggesting for a long time that the police create a system of submitting tips anonymously by mail.
Self-addressed and stamped envelopes will now be available at public meetings, City Hall, the police department and that other public places around Bridgeport.
