After two years of prepping, the Breeders' Cup will take place at Monmouth Park next weekend.

The park has gone through many improvements to accommodate the race. Two years ago, when Monmouth Park landed the prestigious race, the state allotted $30 million for new dirt, grass and barn upgrades.

Officials say competition from Atlantic City casinos and slot machines at racetracks in nearby states have taken a toll on the sport in the Garden State. Many hope the race will help bring horse racing back to the state.

The race begins Friday, Oct. 26 and will be seen worldwide. Experts say it should generate about $60 million from the trainers and horsemen who will be in the state this week.
