Law enforcement officers are taking some extra precautions in Bergen County ahead of Passover.
Officers will be out patrolling synagogues and will step up security. Members of law enforcement also met with Jewish leaders over the last week to learn more about the holiday.
"I mean, as with everything, communication is first. And the only way you can really understand the situation is if you know what you're walking into, for a lack of a better phrase,” says Bergen County Sheriff Anthony Cureton. “It's easier to process the scene and address things as not to offend someone when you see something you're unfamiliar with."
Passover begins on Saturday.
