Mass services got underway Christmas Day in New Jersey, including at the St. Rose of Lima Church in Belmar.

On Friday, the FBI sent out a warning that Islamic State group sympathizers may try to target churches and other religious gatherings over the holiday weekend.

But those did not deter parishioners here in Belmar to celebrate Christmas morning Mass. Under a picturesque setting of oak trees, the church bells rang out, signaling the beginning of the Nativity of Our Lord Mass.

The FBI's warning came just days after a terror attack in Germany in which a suspect drove a truck into a busy Christmas market, killing 12 and injuring dozens more.

Belmar parishioners told News 12 that while the warning was on their minds, they went about their business anyway.

The FBI says there are no specific threats despite a posting on a militant's social media page listing a number of American churches.

Mass was continuing throughout the day at St. Rose.
