Authorities in Union County say they have taken down a major street gang in Plainfield.
Police believe the 17 alleged gang members arrested Monday are affiliated with the notorious Bloods gang. Police say those arrested are part of a street gang known as the Clinton Avenue Posse.
Those arrested have been charged with racketeering and assault. The alleged ring leader, 20-year-old Hakeen Roberson, also faces gun and drug charges. Roberson is being held on $1 million bail. If convicted, he could face up to 40 years behind bars.
Authorities say they also have arrest warrants for at least two more alleged gang members.
