State authorities have released the name of a man shot and killed by a police officer following a standoff last week in Asbury Park.
According to the New Jersey attorney general’s office, Hasani Best, 39, was pronounced dead after Friday night’s shooting.
Officers were called to a home Friday shortly after 9 p.m. after a loud domestic dispute, and they say the man was armed with a knife and refused to drop it. A stun device proved ineffective, and an Asbury Park officer shot the man shortly after 10 p.m.
