A mother from Brooklyn, who was a paralegal in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Newark, has been accused of stealing secrets from the government to help her son's alleged gang.

According to authorities, Tawanna Hilliard, 44, of Brooklyn, has been charged with illegally obtaining information from her government computer, conspiracy to tamper with witnesses, obstruction of justice – among several other charges.
Not only was Hilliard a paralegal, but she was also a mother of an alleged Blood gang member.
She’s been accused of posting video on YouTube of informants talking with police.
Prosecutors say the goal was to keep her son's alleged gang aware of who was loyal to them.
"You work your cases hoping that you can get somebody to flip, somebody to talk which is pretty difficult to do because these gang members know that if they're ever made they're done," says retired Bergen County Detective Joe Viola.

The informants that Hilliard is accused of outing were allegedly put on a hit list, officials say.
If convicted, Hilliard faces up to 20 years in prison.
