The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office has announced a man from Lakewood has been arrested and charged for his role in the shooting of a 4-year-old Asbury Park girl.
According to the prosecutor’s office, Sciaire N. Jackson, 27, has been charged with first-degree attempted murder and second-degree aggravated assault, among other charges.
The shooting happened Tuesday around 1:30 p.m. outside the girl’s home on Boston Way.
An investigation revealed Jackson rode up on a bicycle and began firing a handgun at several people located outside of an apartment.  The child was playing outside and was not the intended target.  A second person returned fire at Jackson, but that person has not been identified.
The child was shot in the upper thigh area, breaking the femur bone. Physicians treating the child have deemed the injury as serious, but non-life threatening.
