The dead humpback whale that washed ashore on Long Beach Island Thursday had injuries to its head and neck, according to recent testing.
The 20- to 30-foot-long whale appeared on the shore just before 7 a.m., according to authorities. It was just over a year old.
The Marine Mammal Stranding Center says testing found that it had blunt force trauma injuries, including skull and neck fractures.
