Republican Assemblyman Joe Malone is accusing Gov. Jon Corzine of handling corruption allegations differently in Jersey City and Ridgefield due to political alliances and re-election concerns.
Malone says Corzine specifically limited an executive order freezing development deals to towns where mayors refuse to resign so that his actions would not upset the Jersey City vote. A strong showing in Jersey City is likely vital to the governor winning re-election.
While Malone says Corzine's actions are due to it being an election year, the same excuse could be applied to the motive of the assemblyman's attacks.
