A Pennsylvania man arrested last year outside the Holland Tunnel with a vehicle full of weapons has pleaded guilty to weapons charges.

John Cramsey and two associates, Dean Smith and Kimberly Arendt, were arrested in June 2016. Cramsey told authorities they were going to rescue a girl from a drug den. She died of an overdose earlier this year.

Police recovered a semi-automatic rifle, a shotgun, five handguns and tactical gear from the truck the trio was traveling in.

Cramsey pleaded guilty Monday in Jersey City to unlawful possession of a gun and possession for an unlawful purpose. Each count carries a maximum sentence of five years, but Cramsey's attorney will seek probation.

Smith and Arendt avoided trial by agreeing to a deal that entered them into a pretrial intervention program.

Acquaintances say that Cramsey, a gun range owner, became an anti-drug crusader after his daughter died of an overdose.
