The annual America's 9/11 ride is underway this weekend -- and the route stopped today in New Jersey.
America's 9/11 ride was created two months after Sept. 11, 2001 to honor those who were affected by the terrorist attacks – and they have had a ride every year since.
Assisted by police escorts, this year's ride began in Pennsylvania.
The nearly 300 motorcyclists made their way to the Pentagon, and then stopped in New Jersey today to rest and refuel, taking over a portion of the aviation plaza parking lot in Linden.
They complete their ride in New York Sunday at the 9/11 memorial.
"People see us and they ask questions and when they ask questions, we tell them who we are, what we do," says Richard Pinnavaia, with America’s 9/11 Foundation.

Dave Burtchaell has been participating for five year.

"It's the best ride ever, and it's all for a good cause," says Burtchaell.

The event's organizer says they also raise money for children of active duty first responders, providing 15 $2,000 scholarships every year.

"I do the ride, and I help out any way I can,” says Burtchaell. “It makes me feel good to do this."
Motorcyclists say they ride each year so that people will never forget what happened on 9/11.
The group's given close to $420,000 in scholarships to children throughout the country.
