Alleged drunk driver: ‘I drank too much because the Jets suck’
A man accused of driving drunk allegedly told police that he drank too much because his football team lost.
Wayne police say that they responded to a traffic accident Sunday evening near Alps Road and Route 23 North. Police say that as first responders were attending to two injured people, Christopher Greyshock, 57, approached the officers and appeared to be staggering and in danger of falling over. Police say that Greyshock smelled like alcohol.
Officers gave Greyshock a field sobriety test, which he failed according to police. He allegedly told the officers, “I drank too much because the Jets suck.”
Greyshock was arrested for driving while intoxicated. Police say that he had a bottle of Bulleit Bourbon Frontier Whiskey, which was three-quarters full, on his front seat, as well as marijuana. Police say that Greyshock’s blood alcohol content was .13 percent, which is above the legal limit to drive.
The West Milford resident now faces several charges, including assault by auto, due to the traffic accident, drug possession and driving under the influence.
