Police: Man in his 20s drowned off 8th Avenue beach jetty in Belmar
Police in Belmar have confirmed that a young man, believed to be 24 years old, drowned in the ocean today.

290ds agoPolice in Belmar have confirmed that a young man, believed to be 24 years old, drowned in the ocean today.
Police say Belmar lifeguards and water rescue members entered the water in the 8th Avenue beach jetty area and were able to rescue a group of swimmers in distress. One swimmer was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for additional treatment.
After speaking with the rescued swimmers, it was discovered there was a male swimmer in his 20s who was unaccounted for.
Additional emergency personnel arrived to expand the search of his last known location.
Lifeguards located a body in the ocean around 1:22 p.m. and immediately placed him in an ambulance.
He was transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where he was later pronounced as deceased.
