After 60 years, WWII veteran from Newark receives Bronze Star
For years, a Newark man had gone without a Bronze Star simply because he never knew he was entitled to it. The World War II veteran, who stormed the beach in Normandy, finally received his award Tuesday. Senator Lautenberg (D-NJ) awarded the coveted medal to deli owner and fellow veteran Sam Brummer. More than 60 years after serving in the Army, the former immigrant from Poland says the honor means the world to him. Brummer says he is dedicating his medal to all the fellow soldiers who never made it home.
