Heavy rain and strong winds of more than 60 mph ripped through Edison overnight, causing serious damage to a backyard on Bodnarik Road.
A gazebo was overturned, an umbrella thrown into the pool and a glass table destroyed. A large branch just missed an SUV across the street.
“It was like a whistling for a split second and I was at my shop down the hill and when I came back the branches were all over the place around two o’clock,” says Andrezj Ratajczak.
Across the street, the Vignali family suffered serious damage in the backyard.
"When I saw this damage here, I walked out front to see if cars were overturned because this look like such a powerful microburst, not that I'm an expert either but I figured with this kind of damage,” says Donna Vignali.
Neighbors' backyards were OK, and there was no damage to any rooftops.
There were no injuries to report.
