Six people are in the running to replace Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer in the city’s mayoral election.
The candidates include three current Hoboken City Council members, a Hudson County freeholder, a small business owner and a local activist.
Zimmer has endorsed Councilman Ravi Bhalla to succeed her as the mayor. Bhalla says that he plans on prioritizing infrastructure, commuting and open space in the city.
Councilman Mike DeFusco, has been on the city's zoning board and is taking time off from his full-time marketing job in Manhattan to run for mayor.  DeFusco says that he is also focusing on infrastructure, but also on bringing technology to the city.
Councilwoman Jennifer Giattino formerly worked on Wall Street and is currently a realtor. She says that she will continue Zimmer's flood mitigation and resiliency work.  She says that she also wants to make it easier for residents to stay in their homes.
Anthony Romano is the only mayoral candidate who was born and raised in Hoboken. He is a former teacher and police captain in Hoboken and now owns a bar. He is also a Hudson County freeholder. He says that he will fix Washington Street. He says that the long-term construction project is driving people and money away from the city.
Business owner Karen Nason says that she wants to see more theater and art in Hoboken. She says that she will also make it easier for others to open small businesses in the city.
The sixth candidate is activist Ron Bautista. He moved to Hoboken from Ecuador 18 years ago. His platform seeks to make Hoboken more friendly to pedestrians, bikes and the environment.
Election Day in New Jersey is Tuesday, Nov. 7.
