Three service areas on the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway will close to the public for improvements shortly after Labor Day.

The Vince Lombardi Service area in Ridgefield will close Sept. 6. There will be no fuel sales.

The Richard Stockton Service Area will close on or about Sept. 9. After that point, there will be no food, fuel or restrooms.

On the parkway, the Forked River Service Area will shut down Sept. 10. The existing facility will be demolished and a new one will be built. All services will be suspended during construction.

They will all open again for Memorial Day next year.

According to the Turnpike Authority, the closures are a part of $250 million plan to improve its rest stops.

The service area contractors, HMS Host and Sunoco, are paying for the projects.
