Random Acts of Kindness Day is a day to do something for someone else - no matter how big or small.
Ricky Smith, founder of the nonprofit Random Acts of Kindness Everywhere, travels from city to city all year long warming the hearts of the unexpecting.
"A lot of times, people associate people needing kindness with the sick and shut in or people who are in need, but I always say that we are all going through something. It's the person that looks like they don't need something," says Smith.
Whether it's a hug, buying someone coffee, book drives, covering animal adoption fees, a simple high five, Smith does it all and every year on Feb. 17.
Smith stays up for 24 hours, doing what he does best - in multiple cities across the nation.
Smith is no ordinary person. He is fueled by strangers, friends and family as he takes the journey with just a cellphone and a wallet to simply make people happy.
"It's fun to say alright for 24 hours, who can beat me, who can do the coolest random act of kindness, leave the world a little bit better than we found it," says Smith.
